 We are designed exclusively for middle and high school students. Typically, that would be students aged  13+. We also accept 11 or 12-year-olds on a case-by-case basis. —because outgrowing the system shouldn’t mean being left behind. 

We work with students who have mild to moderate disabilities. That said, we have a unique learning environment created with neurodivergent kids specifically in mind. So, what public schools consider severe, we may not.

We always have a pre-enrollment meeting with families to ensure that Lodestar Academy is a good fit for your child and that we can adequately accommodate them.

We’re open Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Need a little flexibility? Before and/or after care can be arranged with the director.

Starting in July 2026, we’ll be moving to a year-round (balanced) schedule for a more consistent, student-friendly rhythm.

 Most schools expect teens to adapt to the system.

Lodestar Academy is designed specifically for teens, because this stage of life is complex, and they deserve more than a one-size-fits-all approach.

We provide structure, accountability, and clear expectations. Students have goals, guidance, and support every step of the way.

At the same time, we know there’s no one “right” way to learn. Many choose traditional desks part of the day, but we also offer flexible seating and multiple work spaces-from bright, social areas to calm, low-stimulation rooms. This lets students  work in environments that actually support their focus.

We use student interests to build engagement and deeper understanding, while keeping learning purposeful and goal-driven. Through individualized plans and flexible teaching approaches, we meet students where they are and help them move forward with confidence.

At Lodestar, we don’t lower expectations—we remove the barriers that kept students from reaching them.
