We are a k-12 school., but for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year we are only accepting middle/high school aged students.
We work with students who have mild to moderate disabilities. That said, we have a unique learning environment created with neurodivergent kids specifically in mind. So, what public schools consider severe, we may not.
We always have a pre-enrollment meeting with families to ensure that Lodestar Academy is a good fit for your child and that we can adequately accommodate them.
We are open Monday- Friday, and our school day is from 9 am-2 pm. Prior arrangements can be made with the director if before and/or after care is needed.
Our school calendar is similar to public schools in the area. The calendar is posted in our 'current families' section.
Lodestar Academy maintains small class sizes. This gives each student a more personalized education and ample opportunity for one-on-one instruction when necessary.
Our classrooms are designed with comfort in mind, avoiding traditional rows of desks. Instead, we offer various seating options, such as hammock chairs, bean bags, and standing desks. We prioritize hands-on activities and creative thinking in our daily lessons, encouraging students to think outside the box and learn in whatever way makes sense to them.
We focus on academic lessons on Tuesdays through Thursdays, while Mondays and Fridays are dedicated to life skills and social/emotional development. We may invite community members to speak, organize field trips, or collaborate with other schools and local homeschool groups. Students can also work on independent projects or receive assistance with concepts they may find challenging or need to catch up on.
